BOARD MEETING RECAP

Key highlights from our May 2026 Board of Trustees meeting:

  • 2026–27 Compensation Plan Approved: Trustees officially approved Midway ISD’s 2026–27 compensation plan, investing up to $2 million in staff compensation and providing a 2% General Pay Increase (GPI) based on midpoint for all employees. The plan reflects the district’s continued commitment to recruiting and retaining high-quality staff while prioritizing financial responsibility during a challenging budget year.
  • Stephen Carl Sworn In: Midway ISD officially welcomed new trustee Stephen Carl to the Board of Trustees during Monday night’s meeting. Carl was sworn into office and will begin serving the Midway community alongside the district’s leadership team and board members.
  • Panther Pride: Trustees recognized an outstanding group of Midway students for achievements at the regional, state, and national levels. Recognitions included students from FCCLA, BPA, HOSA, Yearbook, Visual Arts, UIL Athletics, Golf, and National Merit Finalists. The board also celebrated Midway students advancing and excelling in academic, fine arts, leadership, and career and technical education competitions across Texas.

  • Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA): Midway ISD continues to lead in teacher excellence through the Teacher Incentive Allotment program. Nearly half of Midway teachers now qualify for additional state-funded compensation through TIA designations, bringing approximately $2 million annually back into classrooms and staff compensation.
  • Graduation Week is Here: Midway High School’s Class of 2026 graduation ceremony will take place Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m. at Panther Stadium. Families unable to attend can watch live on Midway.TV. For weather and event details, click here
  • Transfer Applications Open June 1: Beginning June 1, Midway ISD will officially open transfer applications for the 2026–27 school year with no transfer fee for qualifying students.   • High School Expansion Project Update: Midway ISD shared updates on the upcoming Midway High School expansion project, which will add additional space for student programs and extra-curricular activities as the district continues to grow. The project will include a third competition gym, expanded student activity spaces, and improvements designed to support increased participation and scheduling demands across programs.
  • Summer Projects Begin: Several Bond 2025 and deferred maintenance projects are scheduled to begin May 26, including campus safety and security upgrades, roofing improvements, lighting upgrades, and facility refresh projects across the district.
