BOARD MEETING RECAP
Key highlights from our April 2026 Board of Trustees meeting:
- Compensation Plan Update: Trustees reviewed a proposed 2026–27 compensation plan that would provide a 2% pay increase for all staff and invest up to $2 million in employee compensation for the 2026–27 school year. The plan focuses on targeted pay adjustments that prioritize recruitment and retention while maintaining Midway’s strong financial position.
- Transfer Students for 2026–27: Midway ISD trustees officially approved the elimination of the district’s out-of-district transfer fee during the April board meeting, removing a $1,000 cost for families beginning with the 2026–27 school year. While the fee is being eliminated, standards remain high. Transfer applications will open June 1.
- Panther Pride: The Board celebrated students and staff for excellence across the district, including state qualifiers in Robotics and Tractor Tech, PTA Reflections honorees, and more. Trustees also recognized outgoing board member Rick Tullis for his dedicated service and lasting impact on Midway ISD.
NEWS TO KNOW
- Fine Arts Director: Midway ISD has named Jennifer Martin as its new Director of Fine Arts, bringing extensive experience in music education, program leadership, and statewide advocacy to the role.
- Curriculum & Instructional Materials: Trustees approved instructional materials for the 2026–27 school year, including a new K–5 math curriculum aimed at strengthening foundational skills and supporting long-term student success.
- Graduation 2026: Midway High School graduation will be held Friday, May 22, 2026 at 8 p.m. at Panther Stadium. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, graduation will be Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 8 p.m. at Panther Stadium. Graduation will be streamed live on Midway.TV.
- Panther Safety Series: Safety is always a priority across Midway ISD. Meet the Midway ISD Police Department officers and campus safety specialists that create safe and secure schools where students and families learn and thrive!

- Bond Oversight Committee – Interest Now Open: Midway ISD is preparing to launch its Bond Oversight Committee and is seeking community members interested in serving. The committee will help support transparency by reviewing project updates, timelines, and financial reports as work progresses across the district. Community members who are interested in serving on the Bond Oversight Committee are encouraged to email communications@midwayisd.org to express interest. Additional details and a formal application process will be shared soon.
