Geographic Location

Midway ISD is a 6A school district located in the heart of central Texas. The district includes the communities of west Waco, Woodway, Hewitt, and Speegleville, plus parts of McGregor, Lorena and Crawford. Within 100 miles from Dallas or Austin, Waco is the 24th largest city in Texas and is the proud host of Baylor University, McLennan Community College, and Texas State Technical College.

Prekindergarten

Midway ISD offers high-quality half-day and full-day prekindergarten options for qualifying 4-year-olds, giving young learners a strong start from the very beginning.

Nearly 90% of brain development occurs before age five, making early learning critical. Children who attend Prekindergarten are more likely to enter kindergarten ready to learn and, over time, experience long-term academic and life benefits. At Midway, PreK focuses on early literacy, social development, and hands-on learning — building confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning that lasts.

Panther Kids After School

Panther Kids is Midway ISD’s user-funded after-school program for students in PreK through 8th grade, designed to provide a safe, engaging place for students to unwind and have fun after the school day ends. Each afternoon, students rotate through a variety of activities, including outdoor play (weather permitting), gym time, games, arts and crafts, and structured free play — creating a balance of movement, creativity, and social connection in a supervised environment.Families also have the option of after-school programming through Midway’s partnership with Mentoring Alliance, offering additional enrichment and mentorship opportunities for students.
