BOARD MEETING RECAP

Key highlights from our November 2025 Board of Trustees meeting:

  • Clean Audit Report: Midway ISD received its annual independent audit report, confirming the district remains in strong financial standing. This year’s audit reflects Midway’s continued commitment to transparency, efficiency, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
  • Friend of Midway: Dr. Chris Allen opened the evening by honoring longtime Board President Pete Rusek, who was named this year’s Friend of Midway. Mr. Rusek has served the district for 30 years—20 as Board President—and has influenced the educational journey of more than 14,560 graduates during his tenure. A reception celebrating his service will be held Dec. 9 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.
  • FIRST Rating: Midway ISD once again earned the state’s highest rating for financial integrity, demonstrating sound fiscal management and strong financial practices.

NEWS TO KNOW

  • Bond Election Passes: Thank you to the Midway community for your support. All three propositions of the 2025  bond election passed, paving the way for critical improvements across the district, all with no tax rate increase. More updates will be shared as planning begins.
  • Teacher Grant Winners Announced: The Midway Education Foundation awarded more than $60,000 in innovative classroom grants this fall! A total of 138 teachers across 10 campuses will bring new hands-on learning experiences to more than 5,200 students. View the winner's photo album to celebrate with us!
  • Hunger Free MISD: Hunger Free MISD sends backpacks full of nutritious food home with food insecure students over weekends and holiday breaks. Students are selected from all ages and campuses based on counselor recommendations and parent acknowledgement. Currently, Midway is sending home 360 bags of food a week!   • In the News: A Midway High School student designed  District 56’s official ornament for the Texas Capitol Christmas Tree—an incredible honor and a reflection of MHS creativity and talent.
