BOARD MEETING RECAP

‍Key highlights from our October 2026 Board of Trustees meeting:

  • Nearly $3.8 Million in Teacher Incentive Pay: Midway projects 335 teachers will receive additional compensation through the Teacher Incentive Allotment, up from 223 last year. Projected funding increased approximately 90% to nearly $3.5 million, with 182 teachers earning the highest designation, Master. Final state verification is expected in April, with payments planned for May 2027. Read more about the program’s growth and what it means for teachers.
  • Student Progress Guides Instruction: Trustees reviewed beginning-of-year reading and mathematics results, the first checkpoint in Midway’s yearlong academic progress monitoring process. Elementary reading averages exceeded national fall norms in every grade from kindergarten through fifth grade. Among secondary students assessed through IXL, 60% scored above the national average in reading and 77% in mathematics. Teachers are using the results to identify learning needs, tailor instruction and set growth goals. Read more about how these assessments guide student learning.
  • National Merit Recognition Nearly Doubles: Trustees honored five National Merit Semifinalists and 14 Commended Students—19 honorees compared with 10 last year. The recognition celebrates exceptional academic performance, with the five Semifinalists eligible to pursue Finalist standing and scholarships. Read more about this year’s honorees.
