MISD Board Briefs June 2025

BOARD MEETING RECAP
- Budget Adopted for 2025-26: The Board approved the 2025-26 budget, maintaining a strong focus on student needs despite ongoing funding constraints from the state. The adopted budget supports teacher compensation, safety enhancements, and academic priorities. The Board will formally adopt tax rates of $0.6793 for Maintenance & Operations (M&O) and $0.24 for Interest & Sinking (I&S) in August to support this budget. This represents the seventh consecutive year the tax rate has decreased.
- Facility Study Committee Recommendation: After months of work, the Facility Study Committee presented its recommendation for a November 2025 bond to address critical district needs. The Board expressed appreciation for the committee’s thorough process and will consider calling a bond later this summer.
- State Champions Honored: The Board recognized several staff members for program contributions and awards, and the Midway High School’s UIL State Softball and Baseball teams for their incredible championship wins. Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches, and supporters on a historic season for Panther Nation!
