BOARD MEETING RECAP
Key highlights from our October 2025 Board of Trustees meeting:
- Board Vacancy: The Midway ISD Board of Trustees has discussed the process to appoint a new board member to fill an open seat to be vacated by Board President Pete Rusek following his appointment by Gov. Greg Abbott as a State District Court judge. Interested community members who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply.
Details and the full timeline are available on the Midway ISD website. - Midway Has Lowest Debt Among Peers: A recent independent analysis by BOK Financial highlights Midway ISD’s continued fiscal responsibility, maintaining the lowest debt per student and lowest debt-to-assessed-value ratio among peer districts across Texas. The report underscores the district’s conservative approach to debt management and strategic long-term financial planning.
- Teacher Incentive Allotment: Midway ISD now has 203 teachers recognized through the Teacher Incentive Allotment program—up from 148 last year! These designations honor outstanding educators for their excellence in teaching and student growth.
- Recognitions: We celebrated the achievements of outstanding students and staff who make our district proud.
NEWS TO KNOW
- Fall 2025 Demographic Study: A new demographic and housing study presented this fall outlines enrollment projections and development trends across the district. The data will guide Midway ISD as it evaluates campus capacities and long-term facility needs to ensure strategic growth and continued excellence for every student, every campus.
- Academic Progress Snapshot: Midway students are off to a strong start this year! Beginning-of-year progress monitoring shows steady growth across all grade levels and subjects — a reflection of our teachers’ dedication and our students’ hard work. From early literacy to advanced coursework, Midway continues to focus on critical thinking, personalized learning, and real growth over test prep. Read more and explore this year’s progress snapshot.
- New CTE Courses: Midway High School is expanding CTE opportunities for students! Beginning in 2026–27, new courses in Advanced Culinary Arts and Commercial Photography will give students hands-on experience and professional skills for future careers.

BOND 2025: EVERY STUDENT. EVERY CAMPUS.
The Midway ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling an $83.5 million bond election with no tax rate increase to be held Nov. 4. The proposal focuses on facilities, technology, and student spaces while maintaining a zero-cent tax rate increase. Watch the Bond Video to learn more or visit www.midwayisdbond.org.
