Midway ISD officially welcomed Stephen Carl to the Board of Trustees during Monday evening’s regular board meeting, where he was sworn into office following the May election.
Carl took the oath of office surrounded by family, district leaders, and community members before joining fellow trustees for his first official meeting as a board member.
Board President Susan Vick welcomed Carl to the Board and thanked him for his willingness to serve the Midway community.
“Serving on a school board is an important responsibility,” Vick said. “We are grateful for individuals willing to step forward and dedicate their time to supporting students, staff, and the future of Midway ISD. We look forward to working alongside Mr. Carl.”
Midway ISD trustees serve as the governing body for the district, helping guide policy, finances, long-range planning, and district priorities while representing the interests of students, staff, families, and the broader community.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, Place II, held by Susan Vick, and Place VII, held by Jordan Barry, were also sworn in for their new terms following the May election.
The board also completed the board officer election process as part of the meeting agenda. No changes were made to board leadership: President, Susan Vick; Vice President, Pam Watts; Secretary, Colin Witt.
Board reorganization is a standard process that follows a vacancy or appointment and includes the selection of board officers who help lead meetings and support the district’s long-range goals.
Midway ISD Board meetings are held monthly and are open to the public. Information about the Board of Trustees, meeting agendas, and district governance can be found on the district website.
