Midway ISD students began the school year with elementary reading averages above national norms and a majority of assessed secondary students scoring above national averages in reading and mathematics, according to beginning-of-year progress monitoring data presented to the Board of Trustees in October.

Midway ISD projects nearly $3.5 million in additional teacher compensation through the state’s Teacher Incentive Allotment this school year, with 335 teachers included in its latest designation totals.

During the October meeting of the Midway ISD Board of Trustees, students and staff were honored for their exceptional achievements and meaningful contributions that have positively impacted the district and its community.

Midway ISD continues its strong academic performance as shown by students who outperformed state and regional averages in nearly every tested grade level and subject while showing year-over-year growth across much of the district, according to final 2025-26 STAAR results.

During the September meeting of the Midway ISD Board of Trustees, students and staff were honored for their exceptional achievements and meaningful contributions that have positively impacted the district and its community.

Community partnerships, donations and strategic development efforts generated and aligned more than $525,000 in external resources supporting Midway ISD students and staff during the past year.

Midway ISD taxpayers will see a lower school district tax rate for 2026 following action by the Board of Trustees Tuesday night.

Midway ISD’s planned addition to Midway High School is moving forward with a projected total cost of approximately $16.5 million — about $3 million below the project’s original $19.9 million budget.
