The Midway Panthers captured their first Class 6A state baseball title—and their first championship since 2003—with a 6–2 victory over Atascocita on June 7. Junior pitcher Brody Potts earned tournament MVP honors after delivering 4⅔ shutout innings in relief. He was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Jackson Goldstritch, Dru Ohmstede, TJ Woodson, and Canyon Martin. Key plays included Ohmstede’s successful hidden ball trick that stopped a critical rally in the fifth inning. Midway’s balanced offense and strong defense sealed the win and capped off a 33–8 season. Coach Eddie Cornblum called the championship a testament to the players’ character and dedication.
Midway High School senior Marshall Kolb will be setting off for the United States Air Force Academy this summer. The Midway Baseball player received an appointment to the Academy in a surprise on-field ceremony before the March 26 baseball game
