During the February meeting of the Midway ISD Board of Trustees, students and staff were honored for their exceptional achievements and meaningful contributions that have positively impacted the district and its community.
Recognitions included:

All State Band
Emmanuel Maxey, senior, was selected as a 2026 TMEA All-State Band musician, earning 1st Chair Piccolo in the Philharmonic Orchestra. This distinction represents the highest level of achievement for Texas high school band students and reflects exceptional musicianship and dedication. The Midway High School Band is led by Pam Hyatt.

All State Choir
The following students were named 2026 TMEA All-State Choir members, an honor earned through a rigorous audition process involving thousands of students statewide:
- Millie Cherry, senior – 2nd Chair Soprano 2, All-State Mixed Choir
- Jack Davis, sophomore – 3rd Chair Bass 1, All-State Tenor-Bass Choir
- Cady Eggleston, senior – 1st Chair Alto 1, All-State Mixed Choir
- Bailey Fornwalt, sophomore – 5th Chair Alto 2, All-State Treble Choir
- Mark Hall, senior – 1st Chair Bass 2, All-State Mixed Choir
- Ashlyn LaStrape, junior – 4th Chair Soprano 1, All-State Treble Choir
- LeAngel Rodriguez, senior – 4th Chair Tenor 2, All-State Tenor-Bass Choir
- Elizabeth Trauth, junior – 5th Chair Soprano 2, All-State Treble Choir
- Anthony Zavala, junior – 4th Chair Bass 2, All-State Tenor-Bass Choir
These recognitions reflect outstanding vocal talent, discipline, and musical excellence. The Midway High School Choir is led by Caleb Overstreet.

All State Orchestra
Glenn Eshelman, junior, was named a 2026 TMEA All-State Orchestra musician, earning 16th Chair Violin in the Symphony Orchestra. Selection to an All-State orchestra represents one of the highest honors a Texas student musician can achieve. Midway High School Orchestra is led by Terrence Guerrero.

Region 12 Counselor of the Year
Lindsey Ostrom, school counselor at Chapel Park Elementary School, was named the 2026 Region 12 Elementary Counselor of the Year by Education Service Center Region 12. Selected from 19 nominees across the region, Ostrom is recognized for her strong advocacy for students and her commitment to whole-child support. She has served as a school counselor for nine years, including seven years in Midway ISD.

Educational Results Partnership Honor Roll
Midway ISD was named a 2025 ERP Honor Roll District, marking the second consecutive year the district has earned this distinction. Only 84 school districts statewide received Honor Roll recognition.
In addition, six Midway ISD campuses were named to the 2025 Texas Honor Roll—up from three campuses last year:
- Midway High School (Star)
- Hewitt Elementary (Star)
- Spring Valley Elementary (Star)
- South Bosque Elementary (Scholar)
- Park Hill Elementary (Star)
- Chapel Park Elementary (Star)
The ERP Honor Roll recognizes schools and districts for consistent academic achievement, student growth over time, and success in closing achievement gaps, using multiple years of STAAR data.
