Troy Simonek, head coach of the Midway High School TennisTeam, is celebrating 24 years at the helm of a program that has become a local powerhouse. Under his guidance, the team has won the District Championship fo 23 consecutive years.

Midway High School Career and Technical Education student Kalissa Davis advanced to compete at the FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) National Leadership Conference in July, placing among the top 15 students in the nation in the Fashion Construction category. 

Midway High School senior Lauryn Kosel was honored as the City of Waco Female Athlete of the Year and won the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation's Region 5 Female Athlete of the Year title.

Midway High School continues to be ranked #1 in Waco area high schools by U.S. News and World Report.

Midway High School journalism students were awarded for their photography and writing at the state and national levels this year.

Midway High School ESL Facilitator Temkai Clark was awarded by ESC Region 12 for his work supporting bilingual students and programs at Midway.

Two Midway High School FFA teams advanced to the state contest this spring and placed among the top 10 in their Career Development Events.

Three projects from Midway High School advanced to compete in the Texas History Day state history fair in Austin after placing among the top two in their categories in the Heart of Texas Regional History Fair.
