Board Approves Mazanec Construction for High School Addition Project

The Midway ISD Board of Trustees approved Mazanec Construction to serve as the Construction Manager at Risk (CMaR) for the Midway High School addition and renovation project during its regular February meeting.

The project, approved as part of the 2025 Bond, will add a third gym and expanded extracurricular program space at Midway High School. The addition will increase instructional flexibility and support student programs as enrollment at the high school has grown by nearly 1,000 students since the campus opened.

The approval follows a competitive selection process outlined in a board presentation. The Board previously approved the CMaR delivery method in December 2025.

The district received five submissions in response to a Request for Proposals released in January. A district committee made up of community members and district staff evaluated proposals and interviewed the two highest-ranked firms in February.

Firms were evaluated based on experience with comparable projects, knowledge of Central Texas subcontractors, past performance and safety record, financial stability, and proposed fees.

The district will now move forward with contract negotiations and project planning. For more information on bond projects, visit our Bond 2025 website.
