Midway ISD students earned college-credit qualifying scores on 84% of the 1,911 Advanced Placement (AP) exams taken this year, continuing the district's tradition of academic excellence while setting new participation records.
Even more impressively, every AP course offered at Midway posted an average exam score of at least 3.0, the benchmark many colleges and universities use to award college credit. Several courses achieved average scores of 4.0 or higher, including:
- Calculus AB
- Calculus BC
- Physics 2
- Precalculus
- Spanish Language and Culture
"These results speak to the commitment of our students, teachers and campuses to academic excellence," Midway High School Principal Alison Smith said. "We are so proud of them. Our goal is for every Midway graduate to leave prepared for whatever comes next. These AP results show more students are doing exactly that while saving time and money on their college education."
The 2026 results also reflect significant growth in student participation. Nearly 100 more students took AP exams this year than last year, and participation has increased by approximately 300 students since 2022.
That growth is translating directly into student success. In 2022, 450 Midway students earned at least one qualifying AP score of 3 or higher. This year, that number climbed to 755 students—more than 300 additional students leaving high school with college credit opportunities.
Advanced Placement courses allow students to complete college-level coursework while in high school, building the knowledge and skills needed for success after graduation. As participation continues to grow, Midway students are proving they are not only willing to take on rigorous academic challenges—they are excelling in them.
