During the August meeting of the Midway ISD Board of Trustees, students and staff were honored for their exceptional achievements and meaningful contributions that have positively impacted the district and its community.

TEPSA Student Leadership Award
Hewitt Elementary’s 2025-26 student leadership team is being recognized as a recipient of the 2025–2026 TEPSA Student Leadership Award. Presented by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association, the award honors PK–8 student leadership teams that make an extraordinary impact on their school communities through leadership and service. Hewitt Elementary was one of 167 student leadership teams across Texas selected for this year’s recognition.

MISD PD Lifesaving Award
The Midway ISD Police Department is presenting its first-ever Life Saving Award to Midway High School students Madison Grygar and Weston Williams for their actions during a life-threatening medical emergency at Woodway Elementary on May 21, 2026. While volunteering on campus, the students recognized the emergency, immediately called for help and helped get medical assistance to the teacher. Their calm and quick response, alongside the actions of Woodway Elementary staff and first responders, helped save the life of a Midway ISD teacher.

2026 Heart of the Panther
The Heart of the Panther Award recognizes outstanding non-instructional employees from across Midway ISD who demonstrate exceptional service and commitment to students, staff, and their campus communities. Each campus selects a recipient who exemplifies the dedication, care, and service that represent the Midway Way.

2026 Rookie of the Year
The Midway ISD Rookie of the Year recognizes an outstanding educator early in their career who has demonstrated excellence, dedication, and a strong commitment to students. The 2026 Rookie of the Year is Chase Tieben.
