Community partnerships, donations and strategic development efforts generated and aligned more than $525,000 in external resources supporting Midway ISD students and staff during the past year.

The Midway ISD Board of Trustees received the Midway ISD Education Foundation and Development Annual Report during its Aug. 18 meeting, highlighting a year of record donor participation, classroom grants, scholarships, sponsorships and community partnerships.
The report shows the Midway ISD Education Foundation provided $282,981 in cash and in-kind contributions to the district, representing a $4.67 return for every $1 invested by Midway ISD in Foundation operations.
“When our community invests in the Foundation, those dollars come right back to our classrooms, our teachers and our students,” Executive Director of the Midway ISD Education Foundation and Director of Development Ashley Futris said. “But the impact goes beyond fundraising. It’s about connecting people and businesses that want to support public education with opportunities to make a meaningful difference at Midway.”
Investing Directly in Students and Educators
During the year, the Foundation awarded more than $140,000 through 70 grants benefiting more than 80 teachers across Midway ISD.
Foundation programs also provided classroom startup support to 38 first-year teachers, awarded four staff scholarships for advanced degrees and certifications, provided 35 academic and Special Olympics letter jackets and recognized 180 students through the Spirit of Midway program.
The Foundation also reached a record 470 donors, up from 421 the previous year, and raised $447,184 across all programs.
Its endowment has grown to approximately $3.8 million, creating a long-term funding source designed to support Midway students and educators for years to come.
Beyond the Education Foundation
The annual report also highlighted a growing district development effort that extends beyond traditional Foundation fundraising.
Midway ISD coordinated or supported more than 90 active community partnerships and more than 40 fundraising initiatives during the year. Development efforts included scoreboard and district sponsorships, support for district events, campus fundraising, Panther Perks partnerships and the development of sponsorship opportunities through Midway.TV.
Together, broader development efforts generated, facilitated or aligned approximately $229,600 in additional resources and support.
That work brings the combined impact of Foundation programs and district development to more than $525,000 annually in external resources supporting Midway ISD.
“These numbers represent more than fundraising totals,” Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen said. “They reflect hundreds of community members, businesses and organizations choosing to invest directly in the students and educators who make up the Midway community. When businesses, families and community partners invest alongside the district, we can accomplish more for students than any of us could accomplish alone.”
The Board formally accepted the Foundation’s annual report and affirmed that continued district support of the Foundation serves a public purpose and provides adequate value in return for the district’s investment.
