Midway ISD Earns “A” Rating in 2025 Accountability Results

At its September meeting, the Midway ISD Board of Trustees celebrated the news that the district once again earned an “A” in the state’s 2025 Accountability Ratings. Midway continues to stand out as one of the top-performing districts in Texas. The results, released in August by the Texas Education Agency, confirm what families in Central Texas already know: Midway sets the standard for excellence.

The accountability system measures districts in three domains:

  • Student Achievement - measures student performance, graduation rate and whether graduates are prepared for college, a career or the military
  • School Progress - measures student academic growth and relative performance to peer schools
  • Closing the Gaps - examines the performance of certain groups of students to ensure achievement and growth gaps are closing

At the campus level, Midway continues to outperform the state. Every single campus maintained or improved in Student Achievement, and more than a quarter of campuses raised their overall ratings. The district’s “A” Student Achievement rating was powered by strong STAAR scores, a 97% College, Career & Military Readiness (CCMR) rate, and a 99.7% graduation rate.

“These results reflect a culture of excellence — high achievement, consistent growth, and equitable support for every learner,” said Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen. “Midway is not just keeping pace with the state. We are leading it.”

Statewide, only 64% of districts managed to maintain or improve their ratings from the prior year. Midway not only held its overall rating steady, but also strengthened its Closing the Gaps domain and increased its CCMR rate from 96 to 97 — placing Midway students among the best prepared in the state for life after graduation.

“Our College and Career Readiness numbers are extraordinary,” said Dr. Becky Odajima, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. “Nearly every Midway graduate leaves high school prepared for college, career, or military service. That’s a level of readiness very few districts can match.”

Board President Pete Rusek said the results are more than a rating.

“Midway has built a reputation for excellence, and these results prove it,” Rusek said. “When you combine outstanding STAAR performance, a graduation rate near 100%, and top-tier college and career readiness, you see why Midway isn’t just the best in Central Texas — we are one of the best in Texas.”
