Midway ISD Board Reorganizes Leadership, Welcomes New Trustee

The Midway ISD Board of Trustees completed its annual reorganization during the December board meeting, electing officers to guide the work of the Board for the coming year and ensure continued effective governance for the district.

The board elected Place II Trustee and current Vice President Susan Vick as its new president. Place V Trustee and current Secretary Pam Watts was elected as Vice President, and Place III Trustee Colin Witt will serve as Board Secretary.

Board reorganization is a standard process that follows a vacancy or appointment and includes the selection of board officers who help lead meetings and support the district’s long-range goals.

“Strong board leadership helps ensure thoughtful governance and clear direction for the district,” Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen said. “This process allows the Board to align around shared priorities and continue serving Midway students, staff, and families well.”

Following the reorganization, the Board officially welcomed its newest member, Jordan Barry, who was administered the Oath of Office for Place 1. Barry was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of longtime trustee Pete Rusek.

The oath was administered by Board Secretary and notary Carolyn Wynn, formally seating Barry as a voting member of the Board of Trustees.

“Serving on a school board requires a deep commitment of time, thought, and care for students and staff,” Allen said. “We appreciate Jordan’s willingness to serve Midway ISD and our community.”

Barry will immediately begin participating in board discussions and decisions as the Board continues its work in support of student success, fiscal responsibility, and strong community partnerships.
