Midway ISD campuses celebrate Red Ribbon Week 2025 with a variety of activities focused on making healthy, positive choices and staying drug-free. Across the district, students are participating in themed dress-up days, classroom lessons, and special programs designed to empower them to live safe, healthy lives.

Monday, Woodway Elementary and Spring Valley Elementary teamed up with the Midway ISD Police Department, Waco Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, McLennan County Sheriff’s Department and the McLennan County Crime Stoppers for SWARM (Students With A Responsible Mindset) events.
“Red Ribbon Week is about helping our students understand that every choice they make matters,” said Woodway Elementary Principal Nicole Grygar. “Partnering with Waco PD gives our kids a real-world connection to the importance of safety and responsibility—and reminds them that they have the power to make positive choices every day.”

As part of the presentation, students saw a helicopter landing near campus and explored police vehicles up close—an exciting and educational experience for all! At both campuses, students had the unique opportunity to learn directly from local law enforcement officers about the dangers of drugs and the importance of making responsible decisions.

In addition, Park Hill Elementary will host special programs and activities throughout the week while other campuses host themed dress up days to reinforce Red Ribbon Week’s message of making healthy choices and staying drug-free.
Through these efforts, Midway ISD students are not only celebrating school spirit, but also learning lifelong lessons about safety, responsibility, and the power of positive decision-making.
