The Midway ISD Board of Trustees approved several key project actions this week, advancing major components of the district’s $83.5 million Bond 2025 program and moving multiple projects into active implementation phases.
The district has also released a comprehensive bond timeline on its website, giving families and community members a clearer view of when projects across the district are expected to begin and be completed.
Among the latest approvals are the Midway High School extracurricular addition, districtwide roofing projects, and the Spring Valley Elementary flooring replacement, along with a new digital marquee at South Bosque Elementary.
The Board approved the construction manager at risk (CMAR) for the Midway High School addition, allowing the project to move into design development and pre-construction planning.
The addition will include a third gym and expanded space for extracurricular programs, helping relieve scheduling constraints and support growing student participation.
The Board approved the procurement method for roofing replacements at:
- Castleman Creek Elementary
- South Bosque Elementary
- Woodway Elementary
These projects, expected to cost approximately $1.86 million, will address aging roofs and help prevent more costly repairs in the future.
Trustees also approved the procurement method for the Spring Valley Elementary flooring replacement project, which will upgrade hallways, cafeteria spaces, and key interior areas with new flooring materials.
The project is estimated at approximately $248,000.
A new digital marquee at South Bosque Elementary will enhance communication with families by providing real-time updates, event information, and campus announcements.
“This is where our community begins to see the impact of their investment,” Dr. Allen said. “These projects represent real progress on the priorities identified through our bond planning process.”
Project Timeline: What to Expect
With these approvals in place, several projects now have a clearer timeline for construction:
- Spring–Early Summer 2026
Final planning, vendor selection, and contract execution for roofing and flooring projects - Summer 2026
- Roofing projects begin at Castleman Creek, South Bosque, and Woodway Elementary
- Spring Valley Elementary flooring project begins, timed to minimize disruption during the school year
- Fall 2026
- Roofing projects expected to be substantially complete
- Spring Valley flooring project expected to be completed prior to the end of the fall semester
- Late 2026 and Beyond
Continued progress on larger bond projects, including the Midway High School addition and districtwide facility upgrades
Community members can expect to see increased construction activity on campuses beginning this summer.
“We are now able to move quickly into procurement and scheduling so work can begin this summer when it has the least impact on students,” Director of Operations Ken Wolf said.
The Bond 2025 program is the result of a multi-year planning process led by a 47-member Facility Study Committee, which contributed more than 500 hours evaluating district needs and prioritizing projects.
Projects funded through the bond focus on:
- Facility upgrades such as roofing, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Safety and security improvements across all campuses
- Enhancements to student programs, including athletics and extracurricular spaces
- Technology and equipment upgrades to support modern learning environments
By phasing projects over multiple years, the district is able to address immediate needs while planning for long-term improvements across all campuses.
With procurement methods approved and project timelines established, Midway ISD is transitioning from planning to visible progress.
Construction is expected to ramp up throughout summer and fall 2026, with early projects focused on critical infrastructure improvements and campus upgrades that will directly impact students and staff.
