“Although disappointed to lose a talent and colleague such as Dr. Peña, we are excited for his new opportunity,” Midway ISD Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen said. “I have every confidence that he will make a great Superintendent and lead Burnet CISD exceptionally well. Dr. Peña is a person of unquestioned character and consistency who brings people together with a focus on meeting students’ needs. Burnet and the surrounding area will be blessed by his presence.”

Dr. Peña started his career at Midway as the principal of Woodway Elementary in 2011. He was named assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction in 2019 and has served as assistant superintendent for administrative services since June 2023.

"I'm very excited for Dr. Pena. Burnet CISD is gaining an exceptional leader," Midway ISD Board President Pete Rusek said. "He has done a wonderful job for Midway. I know how much he cares for kids and I can think of no better person to lead Burnet."

Dr. Peña received a bachelor’s in education from Baylor University and a master’s and doctorate of education from The University of Houston Clear Lake and The University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a Texas Superintendent Certification.
