Panthers Tennis 14-2 (6-0) Claims its 22nd Consecutive Team Tennis District Championship:
Congratulations to the Panthers who defeated Pflugerville Weiss 18-1 tonight for the District 12-6A Championship. "Outstanding night for all of our players. So proud of all of them. The women did a phenomenal stepping up into higher line up spots tonight" Simonek.
The Panthers would start out the night with a dominant performance in Doubles match play. The Panthers would jump out to an early 6-0 lead in doubles. Line one Women's Doubles would be the last match on the court. Addy Spruill/Cadence McCreery would storm back from an from an early 1-4 deficit to complete the sweep for the Panthers in Doubles 6-4, 6-2. This would take the Panthers to a 7-0 lead heading into Singles.
Winning matches for the Panthers in Doubles were:
Women - Spruill/McCreery, Rhea/Battle & Hinojos/Hamlin
Men - Lutz/Daniell, Ellis/Castle & Nesmith/Johnston
Mixed - Shelton/McCreery
The Panthers would continue to play with relentless spirit in Singles match play. The Women would rise up two spots as the top two line singles players Izzy Hinojos and Emma Rhea sat out to safeguard injuries from last weekend. "So proud of all our girls and the way they stepped up in Singles. They love each other so much and have each other's back no matter what they face" Simonek.
Helping the Panthers close out the 18-1 victory with singles wins were:
Men - Lutz, Daniell, Ellis, Nesmith, Castle & Johnston
Women - Spruill, Hamlin, Battle, Witsell & Shelton
The Panthers face Georgetown next Thursday in a pre-playoff match. Then they are off to the Bi-District round of the Tournament. Amazing days ahead for Panthers Tennis.
