Midway ISD Named Statewide Finalist for 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education District Award

Midway Independent School District has been named a Finalist for the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education District Award in the Small District category, placing Midway among a select group of school districts across Texas recognized for outstanding student achievement, leadership, and community impact.

“As a district, we are incredibly proud of this recognition,” said Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen. “Being named an H-E-B finalist affirms the work happening every day in our classrooms and schools — the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the determination of our students.”

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program honors districts that demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, instructional excellence, and meaningful community engagement. Finalists are selected through a highly competitive statewide application and review process.

“This recognition reflects a culture built around high expectations, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to doing what’s best for kids,” Allen added.

As part of the finalist process, Midway ISD will host a site visit by H-E-B Excellence in Education judges in January. Judges will tour campuses, observe classrooms, and hear directly from students, educators, parents, and community leaders about what makes Midway unique.

Winners will be announced later this year. For more information on the H-E-B Excellence in Education awards program, visit www.heblovesteachers.com.
