Midway ISD has once again earned the highest possible rating of Superior Achievement under the Texas Education Agency’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), continuing its long-standing record of responsible financial management and accountability.
The 2026 recognition marks 15 consecutive years and 23 of the past 24 years that Midway ISD has received the state's highest financial rating, reflecting the district's ongoing commitment to sound financial practices, transparency and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
“Earning this distinction year after year demonstrates our commitment to making thoughtful financial decisions that benefit our students and community,” said Wesley Brooks, Assistant Superintendent of Finance. “We remain focused on maintaining a strong financial foundation while ensuring that district resources are used effectively to support student success.”
The FIRST accountability system evaluates school districts on financial indicators that measure fiscal health, financial management and compliance with state reporting requirements. These indicators include fund balance stability, debt management, administrative costs and financial reporting practices.
Established by the Texas Legislature, FIRST encourages Texas public schools to maintain strong financial management practices while maximizing the resources available for student instruction.
Midway ISD's continued success reflects years of careful financial planning and oversight. Even as the district invests in educational programs, facilities and future growth, maintaining financial stability remains a priority.
The Superior rating reinforces Midway ISD's commitment to earning and maintaining the community's trust through transparent financial practices and responsible management of public funds.
