The Midway ISD Board of Trustees approved an order of cancellation for the May 2026 trustee election after both positions on the ballot were uncontested.
Incumbents Jordan Barry (Place I) and Susan Vick (Place II) were the only candidates to file by the deadline, allowing the district to cancel the election in accordance with Texas law.
As a result, both candidates are declared elected and will be sworn in during the regular May board meeting.
The cancellation is expected to save the district approximately $16,000 in election-related costs.
State law allows school districts to cancel elections when all candidates are unopposed, streamlining the process while maintaining continuity in board leadership.
