Board Approves 2026–2027 Academic Calendar

The Midway ISD Board of Trustees approved the district’s 2026–2027 Academic Calendar during the December meeting.

“This calendar reflects a careful balance between instructional needs and the feedback we received from staff and families,” said Deputy Superintendent Dr. Becky Odajima. “Our goal is to support student learning while also honoring the time and planning needs of our educators.”

Key priorities reflected in the adopted calendar include:

  • First day of school Aug. 12, 2026
  • Last day of school May 21, 2027.
  • A full week for Thanksgiving
  • Two full weeks for winter break

In addition to those key holidays, the calendar features alignment with Baylor University and McLennan Community College holidays, and a school year that ends before Memorial Day. The calendar also prioritizes balanced grading periods and embedded professional learning time for staff.

The calendar development process included surveys of staff and parents, multiple committee reviews, and additional feedback from district employees following a November board presentation.
