The 2025 Midway Wind Ensemble submitted recordings or Tam O'Shanter by Malcolm Arnold and Come Sunday by Omar Thomas to a national competition, Mark of Excellence, National Wind Band Honors. From those recordings, Aiden Hyatt (piccolo), Colt Everett (tenor saxophone), and Hogan Akin (trombone) were chosen as outstanding soloists. This is Aiden's second time to be recognized at this competition and Colt and Hogan's first. We are so proud of these three gentlemen and their musical accomplishment!
All three of these outstanding band members have not only achieved excellence as musicians, but have also served as the team of Drum Majors together in Fall 2024. Graduating in May of 2025, Hogan Akin was a trombone TMEA All-State Band Member his senior year and is now pursuing a degree in music education.
Senior Colt Everett is an accomplished saxophonist playing in the top MHS ensembles with a special love for jazz. He has been a Drum Major for three years, stepping into the head leadership role for the 2025 marching season.
Aiden Hyatt is currently a junior who excels as an exceptional woodwind instrumentalist playing flute, piccolo and saxophone in the top Midway HS bands and other local ensembles. He also has served as a Drum Major for the past two marching seasons.
