As Midway High School prepares to celebrate the Class of 2025, several outstanding seniors have earned prestigious scholarships, reflecting both academic excellence and leadership within the student body.

Madeline Gamez and Ximena Bustamante have each been awarded a $12,000 Carte Blanche Foundation Scholarship, recognizing their exceptional contributions and potential.
“We are so grateful to the Carte Blanche Foundation for facilitating this opportunity and to the alum whose belief in our students’ potential has created such a life-changing gift,” Midway ISD Director of Development Ashley Futris said. “These scholarships will leave a lasting legacy, not only in the lives of the recipients but across our district.”
The students were both surprised in their classes with the award. Each was able to surprise call their parents after the recognition to announce the news.
"Announcing this to them and their parents was an incredibly moving experience," Midway High School Principal Alison Smith said. "Both of these young women are so deserving of this award. It is a testament to who they are as students, as people, and members of our Midway student body. I'm so proud of them."
In other scholarship news, Camille Pankonien was awarded an impressive scholarship award totaling $48,000 from the University of Texas. Ethan Peacock has been named a recipient of the Terry Foundation Scholarship, one of Texas’s most competitive and generous awards. Samuel Wong will take his talents to the U.S. Navy as the recipient of a full-ride Navy ROTC Scholarship.
These are just a few of the scholarship recipients in the Midway High School graduating class, which includes more than 675 seniors this year.
Midway ISD will proudly honor its graduating seniors during the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 23, at 8 p.m. at Panther Stadium. Families, friends, and the community are invited to join in celebrating the achievements and bright futures of the Class of 2025.
Midway ISD congratulates all graduating seniors and applauds these and all senior scholarship recipients for their hard work, commitment, and drive. The future is bright for this remarkable group of students.
