Midway High School has once again earned recognition as one of the top-performing high schools in the state and nation. According to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best High Schools rankings, Midway High is the #1 high school in the Waco area, placing it among the top 11% of schools in Texas and the top 12% of nearly 18,000 nationally ranked high schools.

“Midway High’s sustained excellence is a testament to our students’ hard work, our teachers’ dedication, and the strong support from the Midway community,” Midway High School Principal Alison Smith said. “We are extremely proud that these rankings reflect the culture of success and opportunity that defines Midway.”
The 2025 rankings reinforce Midway’s academic and extracurricular excellence, naming it #250 out of 2,040 Texas public high schools, and #2,469 out of more than 24,000 nationwide. Midway High also received high marks across multiple categories, including College Prep, Athletics, STEM, Diversity, and Teaching.
Midway High School, located in Waco, serves approximately 2,700 students in grades 9–12 with a student-teacher ratio of about 15:1. The school offers a rigorous academic program, including Advanced Placement and Gifted & Talented courses, while also providing a wide range of extracurricular activities and athletic opportunities.
This latest recognition highlights Midway ISD’s commitment to providing students with a world-class education and preparing them for future success in college, career, and life.
