All Three Midway High School National Merit Semifinalists Advance to Finalist Standing

Midway High School is proud to announce that all three students previously recognized as National Merit Semifinalists — Zoe Betancis, Lily Lu, and Kennedy Williams — have officially advanced to National Merit Finalist status, an extraordinary academic achievement that places them among the top high school students in the nation.

The National Merit Scholarship Program begins with more than 1.5 million students nationwide. Fewer than 16,000 advance to Finalist standing after a rigorous review process that includes academic performance, SAT scores, leadership involvement, and a detailed application endorsed by school officials.

For all three Midway students to earn Finalist recognition in the same year is a rare accomplishment and a testament to their dedication, discipline, and pursuit of excellence.

“We are incredibly proud of these students and the example they set for Panther Nation,” said Midway High School Principal Alison Smith. “Their achievement reflects the culture of excellence we strive for every day at Midway — where hard work, high expectations, and strong relationships create opportunities for students to thrive at the highest levels.”

This distinction not only reflects the hard work of these students and their families, but also the strength of Midway’s academic programs and the commitment of teachers and counselors who support students at the highest levels.

We congratulate these outstanding Panthers on this remarkable achievement and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.
