7 MHS Seniors Named National Merit Commended Scholars

Seven Midway High School seniors have been recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, placing them among the top academic achievers in the nation.

The 2025 Commended Scholars are Everett Beaudin, Dillon Doss, Cady Eggleston, Emma Haferkamp, Valerie Owens, Stella Raimondo, and Ian Song.

This year’s total marks a remarkable increase from last year, when three Midway students earned the honor—more than doubling the number of scholars recognized for exceptional performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.

Commended Scholars represent roughly the top 3–4% of more than 1.5 million students who entered the National Merit Program by taking the PSAT as juniors. While these seniors do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, their results reflect exceptional academic promise and college readiness.

“Having seven students earn National Merit recognition reflects the academic excellence and dedication we see every day at Midway High School,” said MHS Principal Alison Smith. “We’re incredibly proud of these seniors and the teachers who have supported their success.”

Midway ISD congratulates these outstanding students for representing the very best of academic achievement, dedication, and Panther Pride.
