Three Midway High School seniors in the Leadership, Education, and Development (LEAD) program were among seven local students who were awarded more than $67,000 in scholarships at the program’s year-end recognition banquet.

In the 30th year of Special Olympics at Midway ISD, the high school UIL Unified Track and Field team demonstrated the program’s profound impact, winning first place at the regional meet and advancing to compete at the state level.

A Midway High School student has been awarded one of the highest honors presented to youth by the U.S. Congress after dedicating over 1,000 hours to goal setting and community service.

Midway High School senior Shiroz Kazani is being honored as the Youth Citizen of the Year by the Rotary Club of Waco for embodying their motto “Service Above Self.” Twenty-two students from area high schools were nominated for the award, and Shiroz earned the top honor along with a $4,000 scholarship.

At Hewitt Elementary School, kindness is more than just a word— it’s part of everyday life, and the school’s commitment to making a positive impact through simple acts of kindness has earned them recognition as a "Kindness Certified School."

For the seventh year in a row, Midway ISD is being recognized for meeting the highest standards set by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in financial integrity and transparency.

One of the highest honors presented to youth by the U.S. Congress was awarded to Midway High School senior Eliana White this fall.
