Midway ISD is proud to offer leveled dance opportunities for 6th-12th grade students! With dance electives at MHS, RVMS and MMS, students have the opportunity to explore varying movement styles while also learning the history of a variety of dance genres. Midway High School also has two extracurricular performance teams that are auditioned programs. The Goal Tenders are a world class precision dance/drill team that perform at Midway athletic events and compete at dance competitions throughout the spring season. Panther Pom Squad is a sideline-based dance spirit program that performs at football & basketball games along with competing with UDA in the spring. Each spring, all students in a Midway ISD dance program participate in the spring show "Gotta Dance."

The Goal Tenders dance team was created during the spring semester in 1978 by a group of 10 young ladies. The Goal Tenders were originally started as a spirit organization for the basketball team. They helped to support and relieve the Cheerleaders at these games. That's how the name "Goal Tenders" came to be. The Goal Tenders now perform at football half times, attend basketball games, perform in state and local competitions and have an end of year spring show "Gotta Dance". The Goal Tenders have won countless awards and traveled all over together. The team has been to San Antonio, South Padre, Dallas/Ft.Worth, New Orleans, Branson, Galveston, Florida and New York. The girls have had the opportunity to perform at a Dallas Cowboys halftime show, a Dallas Mavericks halftime, Fiesta TX, Six Flags, Disney World, Sea World, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Goal Tenders have grown from ten young ladies to a group of fifty dancers and continue to uphold a winning tradition and strive to "Be World Class."
The Panther Pom Squad was created in 2022 with a founding team of 13 members. The Pom Squad is a spirit based program that includes sideline styles of pom and jazz. They perform at football games, pep rallies, basketball games, compete and participate in the end of year spring show "Gotta Dance".
