MSgt Dustin Garig

     Master Sergeant Dustin F. Garig is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  He enlisted into the Marine Corps in December 1989 and attended Boot Camp at 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California.

        Upon graduating from MCCSSS Personal Administrative School located in Camp Del Mar, CA, Jun 1990 Private First Class Garig was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron-274 located at MCAS, Cherry Point, NC.  There he participated in Operation Desert Shield/Storm serving as a Service Record Book (SRB )clerk for the Ironmen of MWSS-274.

       In June of 1992, Lance Corporal Garig was transferred to Marine Corps Detachment Fort Huachuca, AZ to serve as a SRB and Unit Diary clerk for the command.  He was promoted to Corporal in August 1992 and meritoriously to Sergeant in February 1994.

       In April 1996, Sergeant Garig graduated Drill Instructor school at MCRD, Parris Island, SC.  He then went on to attend and pass Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival before being assigned to 1st Battalion Delta Company as a Drill Instructor.  While at the recruit depot Sergeant Garig graduated four platoons and also worked at the combat training pool. 

       In September 1998 Sergeant Garig transferred to Marine Air Training Support Group Pensacola, FL.  There he was promoted to the rank of Staff sergeant in December of that same year serving as an Admin Chief for several sections within the IPAC.

       In February 2002, Staff Sergeant Garig was reassigned to HML/A-269, MCAS New River, NC for duty as Admin Chief of the squadron.  While at the squadron he deployed to Iraq for two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and 2005.  While in Iraq he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in July 2005. 

       In September 2005, Gunnery Sergeant Garig was transferred to Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Knox, KY where he served as the Administration Chief for Marine Corps Armor School.  While there he was promoted to Master Sergeant in July of 2009. 

       In July of 2009 Master Sergeant Garig was transferred to Marine Forces Command, Norfolk, VA where he served as the Inspector General Chief for the command.  In August of 2012, Master Sergeant Garig was assigned to IPAC, H&HS MCAS Cherry Point, NC where he retired from active duty with 25 years of service in June of 2014.

     In July 2014 Master Sergeant Garig assumed the Marine Instructor position at Paul W. Bryant High School in Cottondale, AL where he taught MCJROTC for 5 years.  In July of 2019 MSgt Garig assumed the duties of Marine Instructor of Midway High School.

       Master Sergeant Garig’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation medal, Navy and Marine Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps unit Citations, Meritorious unit Citation.

    Master Sergeant Garig is married to Jill Lynne Garig and has five children Carl, Chelsea, Dustin II, Jasmine and Cameron.
