73 Years of Volunteer Service

Each year, school districts across the state take part in Texas School Board Recognition Month to honor the men and women who serve on their local School Board. The seven members of Midway ISD’s School Board spend numerous volunteer hours working to help give the students and staff of Midway ISD the tools they need to be successful, with combined service of 73 years! These members are President Pete Rusek, Vice President Tom Pagel, Secretary Susan Vick, Brad Alford, Ivan Green, Rick Tullis, and Pam Watts. They have each been adopted by a campus for the month as a part of recognition month, and participated in activities such as breakfasts or lunches with staff members, received gift baskets, and attended assemblies so students, staff and parents had the opportunity to thank these dedicated volunteers for their time and commitment to public education in our community. Read more about our board members here.

So much more than awards

Midway ISD is dedicated to continuing the great work of our students and staff for years to come. In spring of 2016, MISD embarked on a community visioning project called Momentum. 1,272 survey responders and 101 focus group volunteers provided crucial insight and direction for an action plan created by the MISD Leadership Team. The Momentum Action Plan is intended to be a multi-year guide for the advancement of the district in four key areas: Student Achievement, Community Engagement, Funding Priorities, and Facilities.

Visit www.MidwayMomentum.org to track our initiatives and see highlights of the many successful programs taking place in our schools on a daily basis.

And the list goes on ...

Want more great news? Don't wait!
