Bullying / Cyberbullying
MISD does not tolerate bullying. Students or parents may report an alleged incident, orally or in writing, to the campus administration. More information can be found here.Sexting InformationWhat is sexting? Quite simply, it is sending sexually suggestive nude or nearly nude images or video to someone else via text messaging. Undeniably, "technology has altered the way youth communicate and interact with their peers" (Texas School Safety Center). According to recent research, sexting occurs most often in the following ways:1. Exchanges of images solely between two romantic partners2. Exchanges between partners that are then shared outside the relationship3. Exchanges between people who are not yet in a relationship, but where often one person hopes to beMISD encourages parents and staff to be fully proactive, and to educate students regarding safe internet practices. Parents that limit or monitor texting activity will decrease the likelihood that a child will send, save, or distribute sexually explicit images. Before You Text is a very helpful online tool.
