The safety and security of our students at Woodgate Intermediate School is of the utmost importance to us.
Therefore, the following items are an integral part of our Emergency Operation Plan:
Each classroom has primary and alternate evacuation routes posted near their door.
Woodgate Intermediate has secured an evacuation site off campus if needed in an emergency.
Faculty and staff are trained regularly in safety and security procedures via e-mail and in faculty meetings.
A fire drill is held each month as well as a lockdown/intruder and severe weather drill each semester.
Administrators have been trained in FEMA’s National Incident Management System.
Safety EOP bags are supplied to every classroom teacher with basic first aid supplies, flashlights, copies of safety drills and student rosters.
In an event of a campus evacuation, parents would be notified through the School Messenger system. Therefore, it is very important to keep your contact information up-to-date. In the case of an emergency, please follow all directions from the school. For example, if the school is in lockdown, please do not call the school or arrive to pick up your child. Parents trying to come to a school during a crisis can prevent first responders from arriving on scene in a timely fashion and will complicate and already difficult situation. Please wait for further guidance from school staff, as the safety and security of our student would be foremost in our decision-making in an emergency situation.
